Girls High School Fall Sevens 2021
Expand the presence of rugby on high school campuses through girls rugby.
Teams must be affiliated with a high school by either being a school sport or a school club. All players on a team must be from the same high school. Rare exceptions must be approved by Rugby NorCal.
Starting a Team:
If the team is not already a school sport, players must contact the school administration and apply for a student body club. Team coaches and administrators may assist players in coordinating with the school administration to start a student body club.
Players and coaches will register with Rugby NorCal for RNC Fall HS Girls Sevens. Rugby NorCal will serve as registrar of the league providing coaches with access to their teams and updates about player and coach eligibility. Verifying eligibility, certifications, background checks, and registration payments will all be handled by Rugby NorCal. Registration includes USA Rugby membership (CIPP) for the entire year and will carry over to Spring and Summer. Teams or clubs do not charge additional fees for registration.
League points are accumulated in the first 4 tournaments. Total league points determine seedings and divisions for the qualifying tournament. Results from the qualifying tournament determine seedings and divisions for the final tournament. Champions are awarded in each division based on the results of the final tournament.
Schedule & Venues:
OCTOBER 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd
The first 4 weeks will be played at different locations with 1 field and up to 6 teams per event. Teams may apply to host an event and Rugby NorCal will publish the schedule when all hosts are approved. Many schools will provide facilities to school teams and student body clubs for free or at reduced costs. Rugby NorCal will cover additional costs for tournament facilities. Field quality, location, and costs will determine host approval.
NOVEMBER 6th and 13th
The last 2 weeks will be played on 2 or more fields at a single location with all teams at the same place. Teams may also apply to host these events.
Rugby NorCal will be training new referees during this program. Experienced referee coaches will be present at every event to train and evaluate referees. It is important for clubs to begin training their own referees in preparation for next year. It is strongly recommended that teams and clubs direct their referees to sign up for these events to gain valuable training and experience.
There should be no additional costs to teams or clubs. Practice fields are normally provided by the school for free. Some teams may fundraise to cover additional costs for fields, equipment, jerseys, and team T-shirts that players can wear at school to promote the sport. L200 coaching courses may also bring an additional cost to the coach getting certified. Rugby NorCal can assist with some additional costs when approved.
